![]() It is less linear and I enjoyed finding the hidden rooms and shortcuts. The hospital map is the kind of direction I'd like to see map designs go. You could borrow some of the ideas like the l4d2 boomer unit, if it gets destroyed nearby teammate the teammate gets covered in a bile that triggers a horde to attack him/her. ![]() It is perhaps the most predictable to play but it could be improved with a l4d2 style system where random zombies are placed wandering along the map along with the regular spawns. I liked the big maps on orions threat but it suffers the most from the problems I describe. Multiple onslaughts coming from different directions would be more of a test. ![]() The onslaught is a good idea but the hordes aren't really a problem when someone takes a GL. Ok the general weakness of the game after sinking a few hours on each map you learn the spawn points and basically spawn camp (usually with chainsaws) until they stop coming. Those are my inputs, basically the only one actually being more swarm, plus more map elements, along with maybe a new type of hack or two, which would be REALLY cool. "interacting" with the game, than just "kill swarm, survive from swarm" and how you deal with the swarm being the only actual choices you have, I wish you could actually interact more with the level itself, like maybe there was a room where swarm were "mutated" over time (if there were more swarm types), or where they spawned (or maybe every minute, 1% of 100 would turn into a different type of bug, or something like that), causing you to have a huge sense of urgency, kind of forcing you to "speedrun", but also not making it a "we went too slow, we instantly died" kind of thing. I'd love to see more maps like that, where instead of having just 95% swarm, and 4.999% other different enemies, if there were more "natural" elements that you had to deal with, such as the lava.Īlso, I wish there was more. I really liked how instead of the only problems in the game being swarm, swarm, swarm, HOLY SHIZ GIANT SWARM, it added a sense of urgency to it (besides the constant alien spawning spots) I can't really remember any maps in particular besides the queen one, but another cool thing about that one was the lava. ![]() twice total? in the original, but so much more here) Most of the maps seem to be different than the Jacob's Rest maps, as Jacob's Rest (maybe just because I played it in the original so I'm used to it), but it kind of seemed more of a tutorial than anything else, and the rest of the game was the actual "gameplay" (First level teaching you how to hack, and how to do the numbers hacks which you see. I really enjoyed the map with the queen fight, obviously, because there was a boss fight, and it'd be cool if modding support was added for custom bosses :) (wait, you already released the source code, isn't this already possible o.o) Which maps would you like to see in the future?įeel free to share your thoughts and ideas Woah! How can you compare them to the original Jacob's Rest maps? What do you like or dislike in a particular map?
